Range Rover DPF Filter Cleaning LiverpoolAll Diesel Range Rovers are now fitted, by law, with a DPF. DPF means “Diesel Particulate Filter”. It is a filter that collects any large particles of soot that are expelled from your Range Rover. Your Range Rover will automatically burn away the deposits that accumulate on the DPF but sometimes the Range Rover DPF becomes so badly clogged that it can no longer be cleaned automatically, and so a Range Rover DPF filter clean is needed. A Range Rover dealer will charge the earth for this service, so why not use an independent Range Rover specialist instead?
Range Rover DPF Filter CleaningThe DPF in your Range Rover is basically a filter to remove large soot particles from the exhaust gases. By doing so, it reduces pollution. It collects these particles until your Range Rover’s engine control unit (ECU) decides the DPF needs to be cleared. The Range Rover’s ECU then does a “regeneration”: it heats up the DPF to a really high temperature so the particles are incinerated. However, this only works when your Range Rover is in full working order and:
- You are travelling at motorway speeds in your Range Rover
- The Range Rover’s engine has no fault codes
- The Range Rover’s glow plugs are working
- The correct oil for the Range Rover is being used
